AmLoG Ground is mandated to provide trucking solutions for businesses island-wide. It will operate in collaboration with Aeromar’s longstanding trucking partners, but will also bring new owner operated units into the mix.
Chairman and CEO of the AmLoG Group, Talmage Stokes, explained that the decision to bring delivery services under a separate brand, AmLoG Ground, became necessary as the demand for trucking solutions has grown, and forward looking companies may wish to put their trucking needs into the hands of a competent service provider which will bring greater value to them.
Trucking partners which come under the AmLoG Ground umbrella will provide a variety of options for pulling containers, providing flatbed trailers, movement of specialized heavy equipment, as well as box body trucks for smaller loads. Trucks will pick up items on site and deliver to specified locations. AmLoG Ground will also provide warehousing facilities at the request of customers.
Stokes maintains that in keeping with modern business practices AmLoG Ground will also facilitate more environmentally friendly services, the aim being to reduce fuel consumption through better planning and consolidation of shipments, and also by ensuring that vehicles are in good working order.
According to Stokes, AmLoG Ground, will enable the AmLoG Group to expand its delivery services for full container loads (FCL), and less than container loads (LCL) moving from point to point across the island, “ this will allow our customers to have the confidence that they will get a service that is delivered to international standards.”
Stokes points out that at this time when there is a growth in demand for trucking services with a number of large projects coming on stream, the need exists for greater organization of the trucking sector, “we will create and maintain standards for our participating truckers, as well as carry out group purchasing for equipment, parts and for such services as insurance , this will enable them to contain costs and deliver a more affordable service to customers”.
Brian Stevenson, Managing Director of the Issa Transport Group, welcomes AmLog’s move to improve delivery services, “a reliable world class delivery service fits into our strategic thrust at this time and enables us to give our customers the benefits of faster turnaround times”.
Mark Budhlall, General Manager of AmLoG Ground, is confident that the new service has come at an opportune time. Mr. Budhlall will be responsible for ensuring that the cooperative purchasing and procurement of services will bring greater value to trucking partners, and that the standards set by AmLoG Ground are maintained.
